Kylee 6th Grade Graduation

Kylee had graduation from 6th grade, strange. Samantha leaving 8th grade and going into 9th grade had no graduation, strange. The pictures Matt took aren't that great but I will post them anyways. She got a candy bar for every award she received so she came home with 9 candy bars. School is officially out and lazy days begin. I have to teach relief society tomorrow. Not sure on what yet because I have not had any inspiration yet. Hope it will come quickly because church is at 8:30 in the morning. Feelings are about husbands and fathers. We will see because that topic would be great, but I will be an emotional mess. I wish I had an assigned topic that would be easier than just choosing.

Memorial Day Fun

We decided to head to Jon and Jenny Black's in Price, Utah for a few days. We went right after church on Sunday had dinner and did that boring thing according to children, visit. The next day was Jenny's birthday so she organized her own party and barbecue at the park later that afternoon. That morning we went out four wheeling just outside of Price. It was fun at the barbecue to be introduced as Jenny's friend for close to 20 years. Glad for such friendships.

Spring!?!

Have been busy trying to put in some plants. Utah people say that we can't plant until after Mother's Day and they were right because just before Mother's Day it snowed. We also put in a garden. Last year we planted at the end of June and it was definately too late. It has been beatiful though since mother's day. Yesterday May 21st Kylee ran in the Hersey's track meet. It was 94 degrees. Now today the 22nd it is 58 degrees and rainy. Samantha just got home from going to Lagoon with her 8th grade class. They earn the priviledge by staying on the honor roll all year long. She will be getting her braces off tomorrow. Matt is gone to Maine for the week. He will be home on Friday. Miss him!

Youth Conference

Towards the end of March the girls went to Youth Conference. They went up to Aspen Grove and stayed in a lodge for 3 days and 2 nights. They had a really good time. It was nice to help them pack and then wave good bye to them and know that neither Matt nor I had to go with as leaders this time. Our ward only has about 20 girls.

New Bathroom

We just finished a bathroom down in the basement. Samantha and Dustin share it. We are glad to have it done.

The Marlins

Kylee is playing softball again this year. She is on the same team that we was last year. It has been flipping cold sitting in the stands watching her. She plays on Tuesdays and Thursdays. Matt put together a team that plays on Wednesdays. I will have to get a picture of that and then I play on Thursday nights. Fun!

Mother's Day

Today was a fun day at church as the priesthood took over the responsibilities of Sunday School, Primary and Young Women. We then were able to have a lesson with all of the women in Relief Society. It was suggested by the Stake to have a visiting teaching conference since the women would all be together, but I could not bring myself to spend the time on that when we rarely all get together. So we talked about the "roles" of womanhood. I ordered 100 rolls from the Provo Bakery. Everyone seemed to enjoy them. It was a full room. A gal from our ward sang "She" which brought be to tears even before we began so it was all downhill from there. Matt took over Sharing Time in Primary because he said "it would be easy for me to get something together because I had done it before". Thanks hun! I heard he did a really good job. Later in the afternoon we all got together at Jared's for lunch. Mom was there as well as Bryan and Yuko and their family. We ate a turkey dinner and played some kind of ball throwing game in the backyard.

Dustin's Mission Call

Have been waiting to get his passport pictures to post the news, but who knows when we will actually get to that. Dustin received his mission call on May 1, 2008. Matt and I were in Arizona helping Matt's father move to Mesa to live with his older brother Alan. Dustin called us on the phone and could not wait until Sunday to open it up. So he opened it with only Seth by his side. We put him on speaker phone at Alan's house for everyone to hear. He was quite emotional as he read he had been called to the Monterray Mexico East Mission. He heads to the MTC August 27, 2008. He is pretty excited!

Some time this past March Kylee won the shoot out at her school and so off to the Spanish Fork shoot out. McKenna (Jared's daughter) was also there from her school. Kylee didn't really want to go because she was suppose to be at a birthday party at 11:00 and she did not want to be all sweaty, but we talked her into it anyway. Well we were surprise and she won in her division. Her score went on and help up 2nd in all of Utah County. Her response to all of this was "just think what I could have done if I would have worn by gym clothes instead of my clothes for the birthday party". She was pretty excited.
