Prom 2012 Senior Year
Sam Judkins asked Samantha to Prom this year
they have been friends for quite a while.
Sam helps out with the volleyball team,
plays lacross and his dad is Samantha's
English teacher right now. Sam make a video
and played it on the announcements one morning
asking her to prom it was very cute. Samantha
said that the whole school was asking her about it
which made it fun. They went with 3 other couples.
They went bike riding up Provo Canyon, ate at Tucanos
for dinner then to the dance. This was the dress
that we happened to find in California. It had a long
scarf that Samantha paid a lady in the area to make
sleeves for her. I think that it turned out cute.
Work, work and more work
So blessed that the girls have a job.
But they are gone all of the time between
school activities, sports, young women and work.
They work at Model A Cafe in Mapleton.
They work about 2-4 nights a week depending.
Some nights when it is slow they do not
make any money but when it is busy they
do quite well. I have learned to tip my
waiters and waitresses more because I have
daughters that work hard and some times only
get $1 tip. It has been fun watching them
work together and try to work out
trading shifts if needed by begging, pleading
and bribing.
Other benefits of working at a Cafe---you get to
make your own food!
4-H After School Program
Samantha was asked to teach a 4-H club on
volleyball and basketball this year at two
elementary schools-Canyon and E. Meadows.
She had a wonderful time even though
the kids were a little rowdie at times.
She put the money away for college. Proud of her.
The duplex we stayed in. It was two bedroom and one
bath. It was great because we just bough milk
and cereal and had that every morning.
One night we also grilled hot dogs out back.
It saved us quite a bit of money.
Matt called the temple and said if we were there by
8:30 am that we could go with another group
and do baptisms. We did not factor in the
horrible traffic that time of morning so we were
about 15 minutes late and they would not
let us do them. That temple was soooo quiet
because it did not seem busy----so weird
they did not try and help us out. We did
go over to the visitor center and watched a
few good movie that of course make us cry.
But it is not hard to get Porter family member
to cry. All in all it was a good day!
More Spring Break
We stayed in Vegas one night on the way there and on the
way back. Matt and I realize that we can not drive it
any more in one day/night. Getting too old. Plus we
want to enjoy it more. Of coarse when you stay
in Vegas you have to eat at the buffets. This
once was located in Excalibur. The girls loved it.
Matt also surprised us with tickets to see this
group. They sounded awesome. The girls
did not realize that they knew a lot of the Beatle songs!
It was so fun. They did ask the girls before it
started if they would be willing to go on
stage and both refused---chickens!
When we stayed at Huntington Beach the duplex had
two bikes that the girls would be up early and ride
on the beach.
Vacation to California
So we broke down and went to California for
springbreak. We have not been on a trip for a while.
It was a much needed break.
We stayed in a little duplex at Huntington
Beach that Matt found it was awesome.
I think that I have a picture or two of this.
We tried to walk the beach every night we could.
I have uploaded the pictures in a weird order
because it is uploading from two different
computers so I will just comment on each
photo.
The week we get back was going to be Prom and so
we looked for a dress for Samantha. This
age of girls is soooo much fun but really
sooooo expensive. So glad they each have
a job.
