Friend from Texas

Mary is Kylee's freind from Texas that was up here in Utah for family visits. She came and spent a few days with us. The girls had a lot of fun and when Mary's mom came to pick her up she caught us up on all of the news from Texas.

The Wreck

Amanda and her husband Brandon were riding just head of Samantha and I and just behind us was Matt and Kylee and then the last was Jason (Amanda's older brother). Just as Samantha and I were rounding the corner we heard a huge crack of a tree and then screaming. We came up to where there was a narrow part of the road with a very steep ravine. Brandon and Amanda had wrecked. The 4-wheeler had apparently rolled twice over them and then rolled another 6 or 7 time down to the bottom. Both had been hit on the head and Amanda had great pain in her side and leg. But overall for how bad the crash was they looked pretty good. Luckily Jason is a doctor and I am an RN so we sort of knew what we were doing.

This was our makeshift splint for Amanda's leg. Alan took both her and Brandon to Monticello's hospital to be check out and everything was fine. Her leg was not broken. They both I am sure will be hurting for a few days. All the men in camp when back to wench out the 4 wheeler. Everyone was surprise by how far down it had gone and on the way done it had broken 3 trees. It was more than 100 yards down. Amanda had said that she had tried to hold on to the 4-wheeler so that it would not drop any further, but lucky for her she let go. It would have been worse had she held on. They wenched it up and it actually started and they were able to drive it back to camp. We all felt that they were watched over that day.
A game of cards still waiting for the fireworks.

A beautiful stop on our 3 hour ride.

Cousin Caleb just home from his mission in Georgia.

Fun at the park with cousins waiting for the fireworks to start.
This is Matt and Kylee waiting for the candy to be tossed out at the Parade.

Grandma and Grandpa Mitchell enjoy visiting with all of the family.

Alan booked pretty much this whole old motel for family to stay it. It was a hole. The beds were taco beds, the water was never really hot and the cooling system had to be controlled manually. So Matt was up in the night because it would get too cold and turn it off, and then it was too hot and he would have to turn it on. Alan said "well at least we are building lasting memories".

This is Caleb, Alan's youngest who just returned from a mission in Atlanta, Georgia (Spanish speaking) and Cole his nephew.

4th of July in Blanding, Utah

We took a trip to Blanding, Utah to meet up with Alan (Matt's older brother) and his family for a 4-wheeling adventure. The boys had to work because of the holiday so it was just Matt, the girls and I. We stop in Monticello first and did 18 holes of golf. It was beautiful. We saw quite a few deer on the course. The next day we 4-wheeled over the Blue Mountain. It was a lot of fun getting to know Alan's kids and their children better. On the 4th they had the small town parade and fair which was fun. We later enjoyed a live band at the park with fireworks.
